Film analysis: Day Shift (vampire movie)

"Day Shift" is a new vampire hunting movie starring Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco. The movie tells the story of a blue collar dad trying to provide a better life for his young daughter. However, his routine job in San Fernando Valley pool cleaning is a disguise for his true income, hunting down and killing vampires as part of an International Union of Viper Hunters.

The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?

Jamie Foxx shoots at an old lady who turns up to be a vamp in the opening scene of Day Shift. This leads to a hilarious fight between the two of them. This movie has a great deal of fun with rag-doll action scenes. It makes those scenes pop in a different way than many of the action blockbusters or Netflix movies. When you watch a scene like this, it is easy to remember the old saying "action speaks louder that words", and while I agree with the statement, I think the key to "Day Shift's" success is the way it uses dialogue and action to develop the characters and further the plot. Jamie Foxx's character kills the vampire. He then has a funny, dry conversation with his partner about how he believed she would become a bat or other animal. Moments like these are what elevate "Day Shift," above similar movies.

Day Shift may be the worst movie ever made. It is obvious what they wanted to do but they failed so badly. It is lacking in acting ability, dialogue, and plot. But somehow, I found myself enjoying it. It could be that I am a sucker of vampire movies, or it could just be that I love watching bad movies. Day Shift was fun. It's not a great movie, but it's a Day Shift Netflix lot of fun. That's really all I want from a movie such as this.

Day Shift was a very mixed movie. The movie has a lot to offer, including some action scenes that are fun and some characters like the two brothers and Seth. But the villain is horrible and there are many mediocre characters. That helps the stronger characters shine more. There were scenes missing that were not shown. Bud's neighbor acts like she is a friend even though they only had about 3 minutes each before the final scene. Bud's prank phone calling at the gas station was the best moment of the movie. It was hilarious and it was so much fun to watch. However, the movie didn't end as well. Day Shift, in the end, is a mixed bag. There are parts that are fantastic and others that are horrible. This movie is great for those who want to have a good time and laugh.

I almost forgot about Snoop Dogg. He's an amazing character in Day Shift. He makes the movie worthwhile. His comedy is great and he's funny. He is so natural in this role. It's like he was born to play it.
